Frequently asked questions about the situation in Ukraine
The colour code of the travel advisory for Ukraine is red. This means that you should not travel there, whatever your situation. It is too dangerous. Please be aware that the Dutch embassy in Kyiv only provides emergency consular assistance at present. You cannot apply for a visa, passport or ID card there.

Travel
If you have an Ukrainian biometric passport you do not need a Schengen visa to travel to the Netherlands. You may stay in the Schengen area for a maximum of 90 days in any 180-day period.
If you do not have a biometric passport, you will need a Schengen visa to travel to the Netherlands. It is currently not possible to apply for a Schengen visa via the Dutch embassy or VFS Global in Kyiv.
Authorisation for temporary stay (MVV) and civic integration exam
Temporarily you do not need to collect an MVV visa sticker from the Dutch embassy if you meet the following conditions:
- You have received a positive decision from the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) on your MVV application.
- You are in the Netherlands on a short stay Schengen visa or within your visa-exempt period.

To apply for your MVV visa sticker in a country other than Ukraine, you must have permission from the IND. Call your contact person at the IND to ask about this. Use the telephone number given in the letter informing you that your MVV application has been approved.
You can submit an application for an MVV and residence permit for your partner to the IND.

If the IND approves the application, your partner can make an appointment at a Dutch embassy or consulate-general in the region to apply for their MVV visa sticker.
It is currently not possible to sit the civic integration exam in Ukraine. However, you can sit the exam in another country, for example in Germany.
To sit the civic integration exam in Germany, you must prove that you live in Europe. For example, with a copy of your passport.
