How can I update my address in the Non-residents Records Database (RNI) when I move from one place outside the Netherlands to another?

Language selection:English

If you are moving from one place outside the Netherlands to another place outside the Netherlands and you have a DigiD, you can change your address in the Non-residents Records Database (RNI) via MyRNI, the online portal of the National Office for Identity Data (RvIG).

Attention: If you don’t have a DigiD, you can change your address at an RNI desk. Read how to change your address in the RNI if you do not have a DigiD.

If you have children under the age of 18 who are moving with you and they are already registered in the RNI, you can update their address at the same time as you update your own.

If your children are aged 18 or older and are registered in the RNI, they can update their address themselves.

Attention: If your children are not yet registered in the RNI, read how to register your children in the RNI.

Your information will only be updated in the RNI in the Netherlands. The change will not be reported to or recorded in the administrative system of the country where you live, or where you will be living. For this, you will need to contact the local authorities.

You do not have to report your address to the RNI, but it is advisable. It ensures that Dutch government organisation such as the Tax Administration and pension funds can contact you if necessary.

Moving to the Netherlands?

If you live abroad and are moving to the Netherlands, you cannot use MyRNI to report this. Report your change of address to the municipality in the Netherlands where you will be living.
